The Next Chapter

Many of you have been praying for us on two fronts: Work and Adoption. We sent an email awhile back mentioning that after two years of training, patience and prayer we are no longer actively pursuing adoption. It's a good desire, but God has not seen fit to place more children in our care. On the work front we see some clear direction from the Lord.

I (Carl) started training as a voice actor in December 2009. I have finished my first audio novel with study questions on character for boys aged 7-14 (and those grown up enough to listen to children's stories). I have a possible client who is considering me to record one of his books. No income yet, but I am working on production & marketing and hope to have it available early November.

We still have a heart for Europe. So we are planning a 3 month trip in order to:

A. See Esther's parents who love the Lord deeply. We'll be staying on the family farm and see them daily to make up for the 2-3 year absences we have between visits.

B. Carl has invitations to preach in Switzerland, Russia and possibly Germany & Austria.

C. Meet with German speaking home educators to discern how we can best serve them and encourage the establishment of a Christian Home School Education movement.

An End, and a Beginning

You have diligently prayed for us over the past 23 months as we have sought to adopt children out of the foster care system. God in His mercy has seen fit not to place children in our care. Adoption is a good and clearly biblical desire, but obviously this has not been His will for our family. We do not regret pursuing adoption, actually we are GLAD we did. However, at this point we are not going to renew our license and have spoken with our agency not to look further for children on our behalf.

God has opened another avenue to serve Him and we will let you know more as things develop further.

White Fence Farm Recap

We had a lot of fun at the White Fence Farm yesterday. Katrina got her face & nails painted and the ballon man made her a crown. :) We got to pet a miniature cow and feed a very greedy goat. Daddy & one of the boys very nearly won the water ballon toss (They really should have, but oh, well...life isn't fair). And for lunch we had all-American fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn fritters, and coleslaw. (I know, maybe not the healthiest food, but oh, so yummy!)

But the best part was getting to meet Waiting Children, their foster moms and their caseworkers. It was sad to see so many children without Mommys and Daddys, but it was encouraging to see so many people interested in caring for these children. They are real kids, not just pictures with a list of problems on a website.

We went into the event wanting to meet a specific sibling group (ages 7, 5 and 3) and we had the opportunity to play with, or talk to, all of them. The little girl is precious. Yes, they are very cute, and yes, Daddy most definitely will have to guard his heart. :)

Their "team"(caseworker, therapists, guardian ad lidam, CASA worker, etc.) is meeting next week to make some decisions, so hopefully we'll hear some time this month whether or not we're "it".


Our prayer is that we would be joyful in whatever the outcome will be and patient in waiting for that outcome.
